What Kate does:

Kate is responsible for the leadership, management and strategic direction of the Community Foundation's grantmaking activities.  Kate serves as part of the leadership team and assists with the development and execution of the Community Foundation’s long term strategic goals.  She also spearheads the Community Foundation's Encore effort, aimed at engaging experienced adults in addressing critical issues facing our community.

What she did before:

Previously, Kate worked as a graduate assistant at the Dorothy A. Johnson Center for Philanthropy at Grand Valley State University conducting community research regarding poverty and philanthropic trends. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education and Master’s degree in Public Administration with an emphasis on Nonprofit Leadership, both from GVSU.

When Kate’s not working:

She tries different parks in the area with her two-year old daughter on the quest for the best slide in West Michigan. She also enjoys watching Tigers baseball or Michigan football game with her sons and husband and enjoys the local food scene.
